HAY Outdoor Market by Jasper Morrison Shop
From spontaneous trips into nature to simpler everyday experiences outdoors, open-air living is full of possibilities, no matter where you live. A weekend of camping; a picnic in the park; stillness on the balcony or terrace at home; a quiet afternoon by the water; or time beneath a tree doing nothing at all. It is this spectrum of moments that inspired the HAY Outdoor Market by Jasper Morrison Shop.
The HAY Outdoor Market by Jasper Morrison Shop is a curated collection of outdoor items – folding furniture, portable cooking tools, a canopy, hammocks, and more – drawn together to inspire exploration and enrich life spent outside, from the planned to the spontaneous. Practical and understatedly beautiful, each item reflects the internationally acclaimed designer’s signature approach: straightforward, purposeful, and made to last. This idea aligns closely with Morrison’s own ‘super normal’ philosophy – a belief in objects that don’t demand attention but quietly add to the everyday through their usefulness – principles that align neatly with the HAY design ethos, offering a new take on versatile outdoor essentials, expressed through joyful aesthetics and grounded in uncompromising functionality.
The idea began with HAY founders Mette and Rolf Hay, who set out to bring their shared ethos of democratic design to the outdoor lifestyle through adaptable, in-the-moment experiences that go beyond HAY’s existing range of outdoor furnishings. ‘I love the feeling of creating something entirely new for HAY – exploring a space we haven’t entered before, reaching new audiences, and seeing where it takes us,’ says Mette Hay, Creative Director of HAY Accessories.
Inspired by the nostalgic utility of classic camping gear, they imagined a collection that felt both familiar and fresh – and knew immediately who they hoped would shape it: British design icon Jasper Morrison. ‘For us, he is the master of everyday objects. He has an incredible ability to make the ordinary feel essential,’ says Mette and Rolf Hay, founders and Creative Directors of HAY. Beyond his influential design practice, Morrison’s London-based shop is a celebrated destination for championing simple, useful, and often anonymously designed objects – a sensibility that shaped what became a cohesive collection of more than 30 items, bridging furniture and accessories and combining the creative direction of both HAY founders in a single offering.
Each design for HAY is united by honest materials and a focus on use – from the simplicity of easy-to-store, folding furniture in lightweight, water-lacquered beech, to a stainless steel fire pit and barbecue, to a series of brooms handmade by Japanese artisans. The striped textiles used across the furniture and accessories take inspiration from traditional Basque Country patterns, a reference the British designer discovered when unearthing a vintage fabric at a flea market. Woven from 100% recycled polyester, they balance durability with a renewed contemporary expression. The Outdoor Market offers a flexible way to shape and assemble your own temporal setup to suit how and where you spend time outdoors – from the garden to time spent exploring nature, or somewhere in between.
This is outdoor living, marrying HAY’s design philosophy and Jasper Morrison’s design language: made for everyday adventures. With objects designed for resting, cooking, and coming together, the collection lends itself to shared, experiential moments – public or private, urban or remote. However and wherever you live it, open the door and step outside with the HAY Outdoor Market by Jasper Morrison Shop.
The HAY Outdoor Market by Jasper Morrison Shop collection will be sold exclusively at HAY stores and selected retailers from 4 March, and made more widely available from 1 April.
