Chisel Collection by Andreas Bergsaker
What started as a single moulded plywood lounge chair has grown into a full family for HAY: a dining chair, a stool, two bar stools, and tables in 10 sizes across four typologies. Designed by Norwegian designer Andreas Bergsaker, Chisel carries the same sculptural, chisel-inspired legs throughout – equally at home in a family kitchen as in a café or library.

Rolf Hay, HAY Co-founder and Creative Director of Furniture & Lighting, saw the potential for a full collection from the very first sample review. 'Rolf asked me if I had thought about a dining version,' Bergsaker recalls. 'I had, so I picked up my phone and showed him a visualisation. From there, I just kept going. Having worked with HAY for six years at that time, I wasn't new to the exercise of extending a single product into a full range.'
Named after the traditional carpentry tool, angled, bevelled legs run through every piece, giving Chisel a consistent silhouette across typologies – 'rounded and organic' at the back and seat, says Hay, 'but razor sharp' at the legs.
The same framework carries into the tables, with legs brought all the way to the corners to pair with a thin tabletop – offered as round with legs, round with column base, rectangular, and extendable versions. An additional leaf extends the rectangular tabletop, adapting easily from everyday use to shared dining and larger gatherings.
Seating comes in oak, walnut, and lacquered beech, with a wide range of upholstery options for the seat and backrest. Tables are available in clear lacquered or black lacquered oak, with every piece crafted in solid wood, plywood, and MDF.

About ANDREAS BERGSAKER
Andreas Bergsaker (b. 1990) is a Norwegian product designer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated with a master degree in Product Design from Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (HiOA) in 2015. His work covers different everyday objects, designed for product longevity and generations to come. His designs are rooted in exploration of material and shape, and referencing cultural heritage with emphasis on traditional craftsmanship, industrial production processes and tactile qualities. His work has led to exhibitions in London, Milan, New York, Oslo and Stockholm. For HAY, Andreas Bergsaker has designed Korpus Shelf and the Chisel Collection.
