A glimpse behind the facade – HAY’s new creative headquarters in Copenhagen
Located in Copenhagen’s historic harbour district, HAY’s creative HQ sits behind one of Nyhavn’s colourful façades. The signature colours of Nyhavn – once a guide for returning sailors, now form a living palette that mirrors HAY’s own contemporary design language. Just a short walk from our global flagship store, HAY House, the new headquarters forms a creative counterpart, where the ideas and collaborations that shape HAY’s universe come to life. Here, the brand’s design, product development, and creative teams are gathered under one roof – becoming a new creative centre for the company.
‘Beyond being a beloved international tourist attraction, Nyhavn is so much more than the summer days, cold beers, and ice cream it’s known for – it holds a firm place in Danish history as a former hub of trade and exchange, where goods and ideas from around the world arrived by sea,’ says Mette Hay, Founder & Creative Director of HAY Accessories.
‘It was important for both Mette and me that our new headquarters – and our talented colleagues it houses – stayed close to the life and dynamism that inspires HAY and its products,’ adds Rolf Hay, Founder & Creative Director of HAY Furniture & Lighting.
Built on the same principles that underpin HAY’s design philosophy, the Nyhavn creative HQ reflects an ever-evolving synergy where art, architecture, and contemporary culture meet everyday life – a living dialogue that shapes HAY’s world.
